Search and Rescue and Those Affected
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority announced that more than 7,500 people have been rescued alive so far.
According to the Nepal Red Cross, the total number of people adversely affected by the disaster in the country has exceeded the 90,000 mark.
Effects of the Glacier Collapse
The disaster was triggered on Wednesday by the detachment of a massive mass of ice and rock from the top of the mountain.
Teams are experiencing great difficulties in reaching devastated and isolated communities on the Nepal-Tibet border.
International Aid and Support
The World Bank, India, China, and the U.S. have pledged a total of $229 million in international aid.
The United Nations also announced that it has provided an emergency financial contribution of $2 million from its humanitarian aid fund.
