Tension is rising ahead of the clash between Filip Hrgovic and Moses Itauma, who will face off at London's O2 Arena for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title. The 35-year-old Croatian boxer Hrgovic made striking statements about the career path of his 21-year-old opponent Itauma and the pressures that come with becoming a champion at a young age.
Historic Title Clash
Filip Hrgovic and Moses Itauma will step into the ring at London's O2 Arena for the vacant IBF world heavyweight championship belt. This major bout, taking place on Saturday night, will be broadcast live on DAZN PPV.
While the 21-year-old Itauma aims to become the youngest world heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson, the 35-year-old Hrgovic wants to make history as Croatia's first world heavyweight champion.
Hrgovic's Harsh Criticisms
Speaking to Eze Obasi of DAZN News, Filip Hrgovic argued that his opponent had a much easier path in his boxing career. Hrgovic claimed that if Itauma had been born in a small country like Croatia, he would not have been able to cope with these difficulties and would be working at a McDonald's drive-thru.
Emphasizing that boxers from small countries face much greater challenges, Hrgovic stated that his own age and experience are a major advantage in dealing with the demands of elite boxing.
Losing is Best for Him
The Croatian boxer argued that losing the upcoming fight would actually be the best outcome for his young opponent Itauma. Contending that becoming a world champion at a very young age would create extreme pressure, Hrgovic warned that this situation could ruin Itauma's life and soul.
