General Features of the Island
Offering a wonderful view of the main island of Venice while situated away from the crowds, Crevan has an area slightly smaller than a standard football pitch.
Located just a few minutes by boat from the islands of Burano and Torcello, the island draws attention with its peaceful structure.
Historical Background
Crevan was built in 1806 during the Napoleonic era by the French army as a strategic outpost to protect the northern Venice lagoon from the Austrian Empire.
The island passed to Austrian rule in 1815, and was subsequently handed over to the Italian state in 1866 with the annexation of Veneto to the Kingdom of Italy.
From Military Era to Residence
Crevan continued to serve military purposes until the period following the First World War.
Following years of neglect, the buildings on the island were purchased by a private owner and restored for residential use.

The island's most striking feature is the Napoleonic fort, which was converted into a small four-bedroom villa by its current owner.
The fort is surrounded by manicured lawns, vegetable and fruit gardens, trees, a private dock on a small internal canal, and a helipad.
