In the game played in Williamsport, Kinley Rasmus allowed only two hits against East Region representative West Chester. Striking out 6 opposing batters throughout the match, the 12-year-old player played a leading role in her team's 6-5 win.

With this performance, Rasmus tied the record for the most strikeouts by a girl in the Little League World Series, held by Mo'ne Davis. Rasmus also holds the title of being the 25th girl to play in tournament history.

A Baseball Tradition in the Family

Kinley Rasmus's family has a Major League Baseball (MLB) background. Her father, former MLB pitcher Cory Rasmus, played for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels and helped Phenix City advance to the tournament finals in 1999.

The young player's uncle, Colby Rasmus, was also an experienced figure who previously played as an outfielder in MLB.

Current Status in the Tournament

Southeast Region representative Phenix City will face Soundview, the Northwest Region team representing Tacoma, Washington, in the next round. Representatives from Great Lakes, Canada, and Japan are also among the teams advancing in the tournament.
