In a machete attack at a vocational school in the northeastern Polish city of Ostroleka, 10 people, including students and teachers, were injured, while a 19-year-old suspect was detained.

Development of the Incident

A machete attack took place at a vocational school in the northeastern Polish city of Ostroleka at around 0900 GMT on Wednesday. Following the incident, students locked themselves in classrooms to defend themselves and were subsequently evacuated safely.

Condition of the Injured

Masovian Regional Governor Mariusz Frankowski stated that nine people were hospitalized, but none of them are in life-threatening condition. The injured include five students, two teachers, two local residents, and the attacker, who harmed himself.

Capture of the Suspect and Explosive Allegation

Police teams detained the 19-year-old suspect who carried out the attack about 20 minutes after the incident. It was reported that the suspect was a student at the school and had a homemade explosive device close to detonation in his backpack.

Measures Taken

Bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the scene, and security measures were heightened. Municipal spokesperson Katarzyna Ogniewska announced that all schools in Ostroleka have been closed and the children are safe.
