Over 1,700 Healthcare Workers Killed in Three Years of Attacks in Gaza

In the third year of Israel's attacks on Gaza, data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization shows that at least 1,701 healthcare workers have been killed and 83 remain held in prisons.

According to current data published in the third year of Israel's attacks on Gaza, at least 1,701 healthcare workers have lost their lives, while 83 healthcare workers are still being held in Israeli prisons.

Casualties Among Healthcare Workers

According to the latest data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of healthcare workers killed in Israeli attacks has reached 1,701, a figure that includes those killed in 2026.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics officially reported that three doctors have lost their lives in Israeli prisons since the beginning of the conflict.

Detained Personnel and Prison Conditions

A total of 362 healthcare workers were detained during the attacks, and it was determined that 83 of them are still being held in Israeli prisons.

It was reported that Kamal Adwan Hospital Director Husam Abu Safiyye, who is being held in prison, was transferred to solitary confinement and his release requests were denied.

Out-of-Service Healthcare Facilities

As a result of the targeting of Gaza's healthcare infrastructure, 38 hospitals and 96 health centers were rendered out of service after being bombed or demolished.

According to September 2026 data, only 19 of the 38 hospitals in the region were trying to provide services with limited capacity.

Targeted Ambulances and Institutions

According to information shared by the Government Media Office in Gaza, 197 ambulances were directly targeted in order to disrupt health services.

It was noted that the attacks and destruction targeting health facilities were also reflected in World Health Organization reports.

Deceased Specialist Physicians

Doctors in critical positions, such as Adnan al-Bursh, the Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the Shifa Medical Complex, lost their lives during the Israeli attacks and detention processes.

Among those who lost their lives were experts serving in important positions such as pediatric surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and general management.

Overall Loss Balance Sheet

According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health dated October 7, 2026, the total loss of life across the region rose to 74,250.

Official reports recorded that the number of injured as a result of the destruction left by the attacks was 175,278.
