117-Year-Old Albanian Qamile Marra May Be the World's Oldest Woman
According to official records, Albanian Qamile Marra, born on August 19, 1909, has applied to the Guinness World Records for the title of the world's oldest woman.
Living in the village of Ferras in Albania, 117-year-old Qamile Marra is being nominated for the title of the world's oldest person based on her birth date of August 19, 1909, listed in official documents. Marra's family, who possess extensive documentation, has contacted the Guinness World Records.
Born during the Ottoman era and having lived through World War II and the communist regime, Qamile Marra continues her life in the village of Ferras, located approximately 100 kilometers south of the capital Tirana. With her birth date appearing as August 19, 1909, Marra is two days older than British citizen Ethel Caterham, who is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world's oldest living woman.
To verify Marra's age, her family has presented a birth certificate issued in 1945, a passport dated 1978, and a current identity card. Her 80-year-old son, Hysen, states that when his mother reached the age of 100, local authorities cut off her pension under the assumption that she had passed away, but payments were reinstated after the presentation of proof. Hysen notes that his mother has never been to a doctor or taken medication throughout her entire life.
