The dowry deed prepared 129 years ago in Yeniköy for Carolina, the daughter of the couple Nikolaos and Sevasti Mumcis, has become the subject of the play "A Dowry Contract," staged at the 30th Istanbul Theatre Festival. Written by Elif Özge Maltepe and directed by Murat Daltaban, the play centers on a document from the past, inviting the audience to an experience of witnessing.

The play features Metin Akdülger, Gizem Güçlü, Selin Tâli, Tan Temel, and Pınar Yıldırım. Director Murat Daltaban states that the work is an example of documentary theatre, noting that their goal is not to recreate the past, but rather to place the audience in the position of a witness before the document.

Daltaban emphasizes that instead of passing judgment on the past, the play aims to make the audience rethink gender, property, and class relations within daily life by alienating them for the modern viewer.
