298 people arrested in drug operation across 32 provinces

A comprehensive operation was carried out by the General Directorate of Gendarmerie in 32 provinces targeting networks conducting drug trafficking through social media platforms and encrypted messaging applications. During field studies carried out with the participation of thousands of personnel, a total of 423 suspects identified as providing raw materials for drug production through illegal cannabis and skunk cultivation were detained.

As a result of the interrogations of the captured suspects, the cyber activities of the organized network were uncovered. It was determined that the suspects managed the drug traffic via social media and encrypted messaging channels targeting young people, and directly provided resources for production through illegal cultivation methods. Out of 423 individuals referred to judicial authorities, 298 were arrested and sent to prison, while judicial control provisions were applied to 125 suspects.
