37 million liras worth of sports equipment support for schools in İzmir

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will provide a total of 37 million TL worth of sports equipment to 1,550 schools across the city in order to support children's equal access to sports opportunities.

With the support implemented in the new academic term, it is aimed to introduce students to different branches during physical education, sports lessons, and free time. The initiative covers the branches of football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and chess.

Carried out with the vision of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, the project aims to enable children to do sports regardless of their socioeconomic status or the region where their schools are located. The materials are delivered to school administrators from the center at Aşık Veysel Recreation Area in Bornova, while the materials of schools in remote districts are delivered directly by municipal teams.
