Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that approximately 4,000-year-old dog paw prints were found during the Tavşanlı Höyük excavations in Kütahya. The discovery at the mound, which ranks among the largest Bronze Age cities in Western Anatolia, sheds light on the daily life of the period.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced in a social media post that prints belonging to a furry friend were brought to light during the Tavşanlı Höyük excavations in Kütahya. The mudbrick piece, which remained among the rubble of a structure destroyed by fire during the Bronze Age, was once part of a house wall. The paw prints left on the mudbrick while it was still wet carry a small slice of daily life from thousands of years ago to the present day.

Excavations at Tavşanlı Höyük, one of the largest Bronze Age settlements in Western Anatolia, have been ongoing since 2021. In the project headed by Prof. Dr. Erkan Fidan, such unexpected traces of life are identified alongside architectural structures and historical artifacts.
