Within the framework of the first event of the Balkan Turkish Music Biennial, the screening of the documentary "An Oud Player in Rumelia", which explores the life and musical heritage of Rasim Salih, one of the prominent figures of Kosovo Turkish culture, took place at the Prizren Yunus Emre Institute.

The event, which brought together intellectuals, cultural figures, and art enthusiasts of the Kosovo Turkish community, was held on October 16. Prior to the documentary screening, producer, director, screenwriter, and biennial organizer Berkant Curi delivered an opening speech explaining the purpose of the project and the significance Rasim Salih holds for Balkan Turkish music. Ramazan Yılmaz, Director of the Prishtina Yunus Emre Institute, also drew attention to the biennial's role in strengthening ties between societies.

The documentary "An Oud Player in Rumelia" highlights the traces of Rasim Salih—who dedicated his life to Balkan Turkish music—in Kosovo and North Macedonia, the musicians he trained, and his artistic perspective. Shaped by the memories of his loved ones, the production emphasized the artist's leadership in preserving cultural values while prompting emotional moments in the hall.

The celebration of the 75th anniversary of the recognition of Turkish in Kosovo this year added a distinct meaning to the event. The Balkan Turkish Music Biennial aims to make the Turkish music tradition in the region visible, keep the shared heritage alive, and strengthen cultural cooperation.
