AI Chips Worth $12.1 Million Seized at Malaysian Airport
Malaysian customs officials have seized advanced AI chips worth approximately $12.11 million at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Malaysian customs officials announced that they have seized advanced AI chips worth approximately 49.5 million ringgit ($12.11 million) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport as part of an operation targeting a smuggling network.
In an operation conducted this month, Malaysian customs officials targeted a network attempting to smuggle high-performance semiconductors through the country's main airport. During inspections carried out on October 15 in the free trade zone of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, 30 server units containing advanced AI chips were discovered. Airport customs director Aspalila Ag Tuah stated that the shipment, which originated from an Asian country, was planned to be re-exported to another country on the continent and required a trade license.
