United Memorial Medical Center, part of Rochester Regional Health, has launched AI-powered Heartflow CT-derived fractional flow reserve technology in Batavia, New York.
United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) in Batavia, New York, has begun using AI-powered Heartflow technology to enhance cardiology services. This system analyzes local CT scans of the coronary arteries to examine potential blockages.
Dr. Bipul Baibhav, a cardiologist managing clinical strategy and investment, stated that the system offers higher accuracy than traditional stress tests and helps prevent unnecessary invasive procedures such as angiograms. Doctors can use this program to evaluate suspected moderate blockages without the need for invasive interventions.
Rochester Regional Health announced this launch as the first step in a broader expansion initiative in cardiovascular diagnostics. The health system plans to roll out the technology to other locations across the Rochester-Fingers Lakes region by 2027.
