‘Shameful’: Alex Pretti parents accuse Trump officials of shielding son’s killers

Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti—who was killed by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis in January—announced during a press conference that Trump administration officials are protecting their son's killers and failing to provide them with information.

The family of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti, who lost his life as a result of fire opened by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis in January, appeared before the public and made statements for the first time. Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday, Michael and Susan Pretti demanded that the Department of Justice ensure those responsible for the incident are held accountable. Stating that the federal government has not provided them with any meaningful information regarding the incident, the family expressed that officials are obstructing the process.

While Michael Pretti argued that they had been misled throughout the process and that his son's killers were being protected, Susan Pretti stated that the federal government went on television to lie about Alex and tried to smear his reputation in order to cover up their crimes. Following the incident, the Trump administration had described Pretti as an armed domestic terrorist and claimed he intended to attack agents. However, video footage of the incident revealed that Pretti had a cell phone in his hand, did not brandish any weapons, and was shot in the back on the street.
