Turkey Needs a New Alternative
During a speech as part of his party's activities, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan stated that the country desperately needs a new path.
Babacan said the country needs an opposition that holds people accountable yet provides guidance, as well as an alternative that inspires belief in honest governance.
Fund Fraud Allegations and Questions
Touching upon the investigation into transactions in the capital market, Babacan stated that despite almost a month passing since the allegations of fund fraud, many questions remain unanswered.
Stating that state institutions can track even small amounts from bank records, Babacan questioned how this multi-billion-dollar fraud could not be prevented.
Call for Dismissal of Institution Executives
Arguing that executives of institutions responsible for auditing and oversight must be dismissed, Babacan voiced his criticisms regarding the issue.
He also criticized the granting of broad powers to the CMB, which is at the center of the scandal, in a legislative proposal sent to the Plan and Budget Committee.
Emphasis on Political Power and Bureaucracy
Noting that supporters within the political power and bureaucracy must also be investigated, Babacan demanded that the list of people trading in the markets be shared with the public.
Recalling that the support given by citizens was intended to prevent corruption, Babacan criticized the ruling government.
