Writer Alper Eliçin documented his visit to the CERN research center, located near Geneva, Switzerland and spanning French and Swiss territory, along with the scientific work conducted at the facility.

Having been established in 1951 and having 25 full members as of October 2026, Turkey has been included in CERN with associate member state status since May 6, 2015, and provides a contribution share of approximately 5.44 million Swiss francs for the year 2026. Participating in guided tours during the visit, the writer shared information about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the ATLAS, CMS, ALICE, and LHCb experiments conducted there.

Touching upon the significance of the Higgs boson discovery proven to exist in 2012, Eliçin stated that subjects such as dark matter, supersymmetry particles, and the matter-antimatter mystery will be researched through the center's upgrade works continuing until 2030 and the High-Luminosity LHC project. The article also recalled the work of physicist Prof. Sertaç Öztürk, who previously served at CERN, and the contributions of Peter Higgs, who passed away on April 9, 2024.
