Alphabet Strengthens Its Strategic Position in the Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem
Alphabet continues to benefit from growth in the sector as an infrastructure provider and investor for AI giants such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The company is building a diversified revenue model through cloud services and strategic partnerships.
As AI startups like OpenAI and Anthropic prepare for initial public offerings, Alphabet is increasing its weight in the sector as their cloud infrastructure provider and strategic partner.
In May 2025, OpenAI decided to use Google Cloud infrastructure to train and deploy its models. Meanwhile, Anthropic announced in October 2025 that it would use Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and expanded this partnership in April. Alphabet owns approximately a 14% stake in Anthropic and announced plans in April to make an additional investment of up to $40 billion.
Google Cloud recorded an 82% year-over-year revenue increase in the second quarter, reaching $24.8 billion. Alphabet maintains a multifaceted earnings model in the artificial intelligence ecosystem thanks to its infrastructure services provided to competitors alongside its own Gemini models and strategic partnerships.
