A survey conducted by the Pew Research Center between June 22-28, 2026, with the participation of 3,488 U.S. adults, revealed the public's approach to the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare services. Accordingly, while Americans are generally open to AI in administrative and medical tasks such as translation and appointment scheduling, they remain distant to the use of AI in diagnosis and treatment.

A large majority of 60% of survey participants state that they feel uncomfortable with the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare processes such as diagnosis and treatment. This rate constitutes twice the proportion of those who approach the subject positively. On the other hand, participants worry that artificial intelligence could negatively impact the patient-doctor relationship and the security of health data.

It was found that Asian Americans, as well as individuals with higher education and income levels, showed greater openness to the use of artificial intelligence in various areas of healthcare services. Additionally, 46% of participants argue that artificial intelligence should play no role in insurance claim decisions.
