Anthropic Will Allocate Five Percent of Its Shares to a Public Benefit Fund
Anthropic announced that it will transfer 5% of its shares, valued at $965 billion, to a Public Benefit Fund. Shareholder approval is required for the decision, which represents a $48 billion stake.
Operating in the field of artificial intelligence, Anthropic announced that it will allocate 5% of its shares to a Public Benefit Fund it will establish in order to respond to social concerns. This commitment by the company, whose value was determined as $965 billion, corresponds to a resource of approximately $48 billion, while shareholder approval is awaited for the decision to take effect.
According to the statement made by Anthropic, a portion of the earnings to be derived from the company's growth will be shared with society. With every 50% increase above the stated initial value, an additional 2% of shares will be transferred to the fund. The fund will operate as a limited liability company wholly owned by the company rather than a donation organization, and its priorities will include artificial intelligence safety, biomedical research, and individuals who lose their jobs due to automation.
It was reported that the management details of this step, which came prior to the initial public offering process, will be shared in the coming months. On the other hand, while Elon Musk put forward a different proposal for the shares to be given directly to the public, it is known that OpenAI is also evaluating a similar model.
