Apple Introduces New Smart Home Products at New York Event
Apple announced the HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and Apple TV 4K models at an event in New York.
Apple added new devices to its smart home product family at the "Welcome home" event held in New York. The HomeView screen-equipped smart home product, the renewed HomePod mini 2, and Apple TV 4K models were introduced, and it was reported that the products position Siri at the center of the home.
Introduced by Apple, the HomeView with a 7-inch screen is going on sale starting at $299 with desktop and wall-mounted models. According to marketing chief Greg Joswiak, the device can recognize up to six users thanks to its facial recognition feature, personalizing widgets and applications. Equipped with the A18 chip and a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, the device works compatibly with locks, doorbells, and cameras from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. While HomeView is open for pre-orders and will hit shelves on November 3, it will not be available in the European Union because Siri AI is not yet usable in that region. It was announced that the device will not be sold in the Turkish market either.
The new HomePod mini 2 comes in green, pink, blue, midnight, and white color options and uses the S10 chip. Featuring the Sound Glow feature, which turns its top surface into a light area that glows along with the music, the device will start delivering on October 30 with a price of $149 in the US, £149 in the UK, and €169 in other European countries. Apple TV 4K (4th generation), on the other hand, offers up to 50 percent faster CPU and up to twice higher GPU performance with the A19 chip. Providing hands-free voice interaction with three built-in far-field microphones, the new Apple TV 4K starts at $299 in the US and will go on sale on November 13.
The new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 will also be available for sale in Turkey. The prices in Turkey were set at 22,499 TL for Apple TV 4K and 9,999 TL for HomePod mini 2.
