Armed Clashes Erupt on Pakistan-Afghanistan Border

Pakistani forces and elements of the Afghan Taliban engaged in armed clashes at various points along the country's northwest border.

According to Pakistani security officials and state media, troops providing artillery support destroyed Taliban outposts. During the clashes, an unspecified number of Pakistani Taliban militants attempting to cross into Pakistan from a remote area in eastern Afghanistan were reported killed.

Three Pakistani security officials stated that clashes along the border in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province lasted for hours. No statement regarding the matter has been made by the Taliban administration in Afghanistan.

Tensions between the two countries have escalated this year due to repeated border clashes and airstrikes conducted by Pakistan inside Afghanistan, deepening a long-standing dispute over militant activities.
