Aslı Murat: Economic development must be supported by social rights
CTP Güzelyurt parliamentary candidate Aslı Murat stated that alongside economic growth, social policies, the protection of women's and children's rights, and the strengthening of social services with a specialized structure are of vital importance.
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Güzelyurt parliamentary candidate and human rights lawyer Aslı Murat stated in a program she attended that economic growth alone is not sufficient, and that social policies protecting the rights of women, children, and disadvantaged groups must be strengthened.
The need for structural transformation in social services
Aslı Murat emphasized that the Department of Social Services remains inadequate in the current system due to personnel shortages and specialization issues. She argued that the existing structure must be reorganized with a rights-based approach.
Preventive mechanisms in the fight against violence
Stating that existing preventive mechanisms regarding violence against women and child abuse remain on paper, Murat expressed that legal and psychological support must be effectively provided from the very first signs of violence.
Drawing attention to the importance of operating the Gender Equality Department at full capacity, Murat stated that making these institutions functional is critical for social peace.
Criticism and proposals regarding economic policies
Criticizing the government's borrowing-oriented economic policies, Murat suggested that a tax justice and production-oriented model should be adopted instead. She stated that economic prosperity will only be meaningful when reinforced with social rights.
