Following the 'Made in EU' compromise between France and Germany, which aims to protect European automotive against China, a critical meeting was held under the chairmanship of Trade Minister Ömer Bolat with umbrella organizations of the automotive sector to discuss the roadmap Turkey will follow.

Following French President Emmanuel Macron's 'Made in EU' bargaining with Germany, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Trade Minister Ömer Bolat with the umbrella organizations of the automotive sector to discuss the roadmap Turkey will follow. According to information obtained by Hürriyet, a consensus was reached at the meeting that Turkey's production partnership of over 50 years with the European automotive industry must be preserved.

Assessment: It is stated that while the Berlin administration defended the inclusion of countries integrated into the European production system like Turkey prior to the compromise, the two countries found common ground after France's concessions. It is evaluated that Macron, who cannot run for re-election ahead of the presidential election to be held in France in April 2027, wants to carry this regulation as a political gain.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Trade, it was stated that protecting the economic integration formed by the Customs Union between the EU and Turkey is a priority. At the meeting attended by the presidents of TİM, OİB, OSD, and TAYSAD, it was emphasized that the automotive sector is the backbone of Turkey-EU industrial integration.
