Belarus Bars Entry to Some Goods From Latvia

Belarus, one of Russia's closest allies, has banned the entry of certain goods from Latvia, citing unfriendly relations.

Belarus denies allegations that it encourages or cooperates in the transit of migrants from other countries into the EU. The country, ruled by Alexander Lukashenko since 1994, is subject to Western human rights sanctions. Lukashenko allowed Russia to use Belarusian territory during the 2022 invasion of Ukraine but did not send his own country's forces into the conflict.
