Beşiktaş loses to Olympiacos 81-73 in the EuroLeague

The Beşiktaş Men's Basketball Team was defeated 81-73 at home by Greek representative Olympiacos in the 8th week of the EuroLeague. With this result, the black-and-white team experienced its 5th defeat in its 8th match in the organization, while the reigning champion Olympiacos achieved its 6th victory.

Although Beşiktaş started the match quickly with baskets from Nowell and took a 6-0 lead within the first minute, Olympiacos recovered quickly, catching a 15-0 run to secure a 15-6 advantage in the 5th minute. The black-and-whites tried to close the gap with the support of their fans, finishing the first quarter behind 25-23. In the second quarter, Beşiktaş equalized at 25-25 with a three-pointer by Wilbekin and took a 28-27 lead in the 13th minute, but entered halftime trailing 42-36.

Struggling defensively in the second half, the home team could not prevent the deficit from reaching double digits (39-50) in the 24th minute. Managing to stay in the game with points from Morgan and Omoruyi, Beşiktaş entered the final quarter trailing 61-58. Taking a 68-66 lead in the 34th minute with a basket by Nowell, the black-and-whites lost their game rhythm following consecutive simple turnovers and left the match with an 81-73 defeat.

Even though Nowell with 15, Morgan with 11, and Metecan Birsen with 10 points played for Beşiktaş, they could not prevent the defeat. For Olympiacos, Vezenkov scoring 16 points, Jones producing 15 points, and Hall scoring 14 points played leading roles in the victory. In the double-match week, Beşiktaş will face Italian representative Virtus Bologna away on Friday, October 30.
