Bessent's Statement on US Bond Market and Global Economic Developments

In a statement to 2Way TV, Bessent expressed that the US bond market is showing a strong performance and that there is a trend toward US bonds due to problems in other regions.

Bessent noted that bond auctions have been strong recently and that inflows into US bonds have been observed due to problems occurring in different regions globally. Stating that things are going well despite temporary increases in energy prices, Bessent said they need growth to get rid of debt. Bessent, who stated that the housing market has slowed down due to rising interest rates caused by the energy shock, conveyed that he expects a decline in mortgage interest rates.

Emphasizing that they do not plan any changes within the framework of the 2030 fiscal year, Bessent pointed out that spending must be brought under control. Stating that losing chip supply from Taiwan would be devastating, Bessent claimed regarding the situation in Iran that a sense of panic is beginning to prevail in that country and their currency is collapsing.
