BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust Reduces Turkey Portfolio Weight
A fund managed by BlackRock, one of the world's largest asset management companies, reduced its Turkey asset weight from 11 percent to 0.5 percent in the first half of 2026.
BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust, managed by one of the world's largest asset management companies, BlackRock, experienced a significant decline in its Turkey portfolio weight in the first half of 2026, falling from 11 percent in February to 0.5 percent by the end of May.
A sharp decline was recorded in the Turkey position of BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust, managed by BlackRock, one of the world's largest asset management companies, during the first half of 2026. The weight of Turkey assets in the fund's portfolio, which was at 9.3 percent in October 2025, rose to 11 percent in February 2026, and according to Turkey Today data, the size of this position reached approximately 36 million pounds. However, this rate fell to 0.5 percent by the end of May, and shares of Akbank, İş Bankası, and MLP Sağlık, which were previously included, were absent from the portfolio list announced at the end of June.
In their statement, fund managers reported that they exited their İş Bankası position entirely in March, reduced their investment in Akbank, and realized profits on MLP Sağlık shares, citing the pressure that energy prices rising due to US-Iran tensions could create on Turkey's disinflation process. On the other hand, BlackRock Chairman Laurence Fink held a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul on March 27, 2026. Despite claims in the markets following the meeting that the company could transfer a high amount of funds to Turkey, there is no binding investment decision publicly announced by the company.
