Blackstone executive Jas Khaira stated that concerns regarding the heavy debt load accumulated due to AI infrastructure investments are exaggerated and that this debt is secured by companies with the highest credit ratings.

Jas Khaira, a senior executive at private equity giant Blackstone, made statements regarding AI infrastructure investments and borrowing processes on the TechCrunch Disrupt stage. Khaira stated that, unlike previous tech cycles such as mobile or SaaS, the AI transition requires a massive amount of capital, and Blackstone offers flexible structures ranging from debt to equity by focusing on compute financing during this process. The company has provided massive loans to neocloud providers—such as CoreWeave, Firmus, and Crux AI, established in partnership with Google—backed by customer contracts and pledged GPUs.

It was noted that the recent rise in neocloud debts alongside recent interest rate hikes and inflation signals has caused anxiety, with CoreWeave's debt approaching $50 billion and Firmus canceling its IPO plans. However, Khaira emphasized that a situation like the fragile banks of the 2008 crisis does not exist, and since the majority of data centers are built into hyperscaler structures, the debts are backed by the world's most reliable companies.
