Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 Index Started the Week with an Increase

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul, which closed Friday with a decline, rose to 11,745.68 points by starting the new week with an increase.

Following a sell-weighted course on Friday, the BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul had completed the day with a loss of 2.89 percent at 11,721.72 points. At the opening of the new week, the index increased by 23.96 points and 0.20 percent compared to the previous close, rising to 11,745.68 points. The banking index gained 0.38 percent, while the holding index gained 0.21 percent. Among sector indices, insurance was the top gainer with 0.91 percent, whereas financial leasing factoring was the most declining with 5.69 percent.

Global markets entered the week with a recovery tendency as risk appetite was supported by efforts on a new reconciliation plan in the Middle East and positive signals from macroeconomic data announced in China. Analysts stated that short-term external debt statistics will be followed domestically, while the data agenda will be calm abroad, noting that technically 11,900 and 12,000 points are resistance levels and 11,600 and 11,500 points are support positions for the BIST 100 index.
