Hundreds of fishermen on Iran's Persian Gulf coast flocked to the area with boats on October 14 to collect iPhones, French perfume, and other goods that spilled into the water after the cargo ship GFS Pride sank.

The Singapore-flagged cargo ship GFS Pride was carrying more than 2,500 containers, and all 21 crew members were safely evacuated during the incident. While Singaporean authorities reported that the ship sank as a result of a fire breaking out on its deck, the naval forces of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the vessel had entered an unauthorized route and struck a naval mine, triggering the fire.

On the other hand, the Tehran administration linked the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to the withdrawal of US forces in the region.
