The implementation, legal frameworks, and pilot projects of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies, which play a critical role in Vietnam reaching its 2050 net-zero emissions target, were discussed at a seminar held on October 27, 2026.

At the seminar titled "CO₂ Capture, Utilization, and Storage Technology (CCUS): A Solution to Promote Achieving the Net-Zero Target in Vietnam," held on October 27, 2026, strategies required for the country to effectively implement carbon capture technologies were addressed. Ta Dinh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment of the National Assembly of Vietnam, noted that while the initial legal foundation exists, improvements are needed in the areas of financing, geological assessment, and international cooperation.

Nguyen Tuan Quang, Director of the Department of Climate Change, emphasized that the legal system should be integrated with environmental protection legislation and that tax and credit policies should be prepared to encourage private investments. Meanwhile, Le Van Nghi, CEO of QIS Global, suggested starting with modular and small-scale pilot models instead of mega-projects, while officials stated that the oil and gas sector could pioneer this field.
