The Ministry of Science and Technology held a critical meeting on the morning of October 15 to examine significant challenges in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the province, and to set directions for work to be carried out through the end of 2026 and 2027.

At the meeting, agencies, units, departments, businesses, institutes, and schools shared their plans, progress, implementation efforts, and anticipated challenges in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation with participants.
The presentations followed a comprehensive evaluation process focusing on the unique characteristics and duties of each sector and field.
Priority Focus Areas and Objectives
The focus areas of the meeting included artificial intelligence and databases, the completion of specialized data warehouses, green growth, and carbon credits linked to non-traditional security.
Additionally, topics such as smart city monitoring and management, cultural industries, marine economic development, and renewable energy were addressed with the goal of making Vinh Long province modern and sustainable.
Top Ten Challenges Identified in the Province
According to the list of major science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation challenges in Vinh Long province, a total of 10 main topics were identified.
Prominent among this list were the application of artificial intelligence and big data, the development of the digital economy in the industry and trade sectors, the establishment of a shared digital data repository, and the creation of a network of innovation centers.
Furthermore, urban monitoring and management, primary healthcare, digital television data center infrastructure, smart tourism, and the creative economy were also among these challenges.
Strategic Solutions and Resource Allocation
Delegates agreed on viable solutions for the Ministry of Science and Technology to advise the Provincial People's Committee on strategic orientation, task assignment, and project formulation.
Steps were decided that will serve as a basis for prioritizing resource allocation in the implementation of tasks and projects aimed at solving major problems.
