Giresun’da, tıp literatürüne girecek ameliyat başarıyla gerçekleştirildi

Fahri Çakır, a 67-year-old patient diagnosed with bladder cancer at Giresun Prof. Dr. İlhan Özdemir State Hospital, underwent a successful surgical operation despite the anomaly of his right kidney being located inside the pelvic bone.

Fahri Çakır applied to the hospital with complaints of blood in his urine, and tests revealed a mass in his bladder. Pathological examination of the mass, which was initially removed using a closed method, revealed that the cancer had progressed into the bladder muscle. It was decided to perform a radical cystectomy plus urinary diversion surgery, in which the entire bladder is removed and urine is enabled to be expelled from the body.

Before the operation, it was determined that the patient's right kidney was not in its normal position, but was located inside the pelvic bone and close to the bladder (pelvic kidney). As a result of the operation performed by the team consisting of Op. Dr. Burhan Özdemir, Op. Dr. Ertürk Altun, Op. Dr. Olcay Yıldırım, and Op. Dr. Hakan Keskin, the patient regained his health, and a scientific study was initiated stating that the surgery had been seen 3 times previously in world literature and was a first in Turkey.
