ChatGPT Gains Chat Locking Feature

OpenAI has announced its new feature allowing users to lock ChatGPT conversations with a four-digit PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID to ensure privacy when handing their devices to others.

According to an announcement made by OpenAI on Tuesday, the new feature allows users to store conversations where they discuss personal topics or plan surprises in a secure section. Locked chats are separated from the regular history, moved to a dedicated Locked Chats section, and possess their own isolated memory.

The company stated that resetting the PIN will permanently delete all locked content protected by the previous PIN. The feature cannot be used for temporary, archived, group, shared link, task-assigned, or meeting-recorded chats. It has begun rolling out to users on Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans, excluding the healthcare sector.
