The ChatGPT Google Chrome extension developed by OpenAI has been updated with features that allow users to read open browser tabs and interact with them when tagged from the web or desktop app.

New Capabilities Added to the Chrome Extension

OpenAI's Google Chrome extension has received new updates that allow users to utilize tabs that are already open in their browser. Thanks to the improvements made, ChatGPT can examine browser tabs when tagged in the web or desktop application.

Example Use Cases and Queries

OpenAI shared various example queries for the use of the updated extension. These queries include filling out forms using information from event summaries, and comparing vendors in tabs based on price and features.

Additionally, tasks such as reviewing contractor services in open tabs to draft an email for a home renovation company, and filling out an open form prior to a dental appointment can also be performed.

Sidebar and Tab Control

Along with the update, the ChatGPT interface in the browser sidebar has also been renewed. Users can access their entire conversation history without leaving the page they are on and control their tabs with ChatGPT Work.

This feature allows performing tasks such as sending messages, filling out forms, downloading files, as well as organizing and grouping open tabs.
