Chelsea's 34-year-old goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez underwent surgery due to an injury sustained during Saturday's 2-0 Premier League victory against Everton. Martinez, who collided with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite in the second half of the match, was carried off the pitch on a stretcher after receiving eight minutes of medical attention on the field.
Following his transfer to the hospital, the Argentine goalkeeper was diagnosed with a fractured jaw and a concussion. Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed the updates regarding the player's health status, and it was stated that Martinez aims to return to the pitch within a few weeks.
