Capital Markets Board (CMB) Chairman Mahmut Sütçü left his post due to health issues. No official statement has been made yet regarding whether the resignation has been accepted and who will succeed him. During the same period, it was shared that Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik also submitted his retirement petition.

Mahmut Sütçü had been appointed to this position on May 9, 2026, by the appointment decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan published in the Official Gazette. Having previously served as CMB Second Chairman since November 2024, Sütçü was born in Bafra in 1968, graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Finance, and had previously held various managerial positions within the Ministry of Finance and the Revenue Administration.

Sütçü's departure coincided with the troubled fund processes on the CMB's agenda. The board had previously decided on September 17 to liquidate 131 funds belonging to 7 portfolio management companies, and at the beginning of October, an interim payment mechanism was put into effect for certain funds. The legislative proposal regarding the liquidation of the funds was also adopted in the TBMM Plan and Budget Committee.
