The Regulation on Amending the Electricity Market Balancing and Settlement Regulation, prepared by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. With this regulation, the collateral obligations of participants who default in the electricity market have been tightened, and unpaid invoice debts have been added to the situations requiring a collateral call.

Within the framework of the changes made in the regulation, significant restrictions will be applied if a market participant who receives a collateral call fails to provide a sufficient amount of collateral, or if a participant in default completes their collateral without paying their debt. Participants in this situation will not be able to continue their activities within the scope of bilateral agreements, the forward electricity market, the day-ahead market, and the intraday market.

According to the board decision of EMRA titled "Procedures and Principles Regarding the Amendment to the Collateral Procedures and Principles", a market participant's failure to pay an invoice debt past its due date has been included among the situations directly requiring a collateral call.
