Company Establishment Procedures in Syria are Moving to Digital Platforms

The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry is digitizing company establishment procedures to facilitate application processes for investors and reduce bureaucracy.

The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry aims to facilitate application processes for investors and reduce bureaucratic procedures by digitizing company establishment processes. While the electronic application system aims to accelerate the registration processes of local and foreign companies, efforts are ongoing to reduce traditional applications and accelerate the transition to electronic services. With the new application, it is aimed that investors and business people complete their transactions with less time and effort, improve the business environment, and pave the way for economic initiatives.

Muhammed Allak, Director of the Companies Department at the General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, stated that interest in the registration of local and foreign companies has increased thanks to practices facilitating registration procedures and regulations encouraging economic activities. Allak stated that Arab and foreign investors can open branches of their foreign companies in Syria or register non-exclusive agencies on behalf of companies operating abroad. Conveying that the department receives applications from 30 to 50 companies daily, Allak emphasized that the transition to the electronic application system is an important step in terms of improving operations and facilitating procedures.

Betul Labbad, auditor at the Companies Department, stated that the company establishment process in the electronic environment begins with the applicant or their agent applying to the department for account definition procedures, and after the creation of accounts, necessary information and documents can be sent via the electronic platform. Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal El-Shaar had inaugurated the renovated Companies Department building at the General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Damascus on July 31, 2025, within the scope of works carried out to improve the business environment and strengthen the investment climate.
