Consultation Meeting Held for 10 Major Challenges in Science, Technology, and Innovation in Hai Phong
A consultation meeting involving experts and businesses was held in Hai Phong city to find final solutions to 10 key problems in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
The "Innovation Cafe" conference was held to produce solutions for 10 major challenges that may be faced in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in Hai Phong by 2026. At the meeting organized by the Department of Science and Technology on October 17, the draft challenge list in many areas—ranging from port logistics to the semiconductor sector, and from environmental quality maps to urban flooding problems—was evaluated with experts and businesses.
Representatives of relevant public institutions, research institutes, universities, business associations, and technology startups attended the conference organized by the Department of Science and Technology. Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Cao Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, stated that Hai Phong's gross domestic product growth reached 12.08 percent in the first nine months of 2026, and it is aimed to increase this rate above 15.39 percent in the fourth quarter.
Nguyen Minh Kha, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, shared the draft list of 10 major challenges that the city will prioritize addressing for 2026. This list includes topics such as developing a market platform for port and logistics data, establishing a supply chain for supporting sectors like electronics and shipbuilding, creating a test center for unmanned aerial vehicles, preparing a digital map in economic zones, and producing environmental quality maps linked to carbon inventories.
The draft list also includes items such as a traceability platform for mass catering and OCOP products, on-demand talent training, rapid prediction and early warning models, bringing technological solutions to flooding problems at 16 critical urban locations, and supporting circular agriculture by converting water hyacinth and agricultural by-products into organic fertilizer.
During the conference, the business community and experts evaluated the presented solutions, while some businesses proposed establishing a controlled testing mechanism for the pilot implementation of high-tech solutions. The list, which will be finalized in line with the feedback received, will be submitted to the City People's Committee for evaluation and official announcement.
