While rising living costs and declining public services were protested across France, clashes and arson incidents took place in various cities of the country. While hundreds of thousands of people organized peaceful marches in the streets, some groups targeted public buildings and attacked police vehicles.

While the town hall in Limoges was set on fire, black-clad protesters in Marseille entered the municipal building and vandalized it. In Lyon, the city's tourism office was set on fire.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu stated that the government would not cede to violence and announced that approximately 1,200 people had been detained. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez reported that the number of participants nationwide was around 550,000. Meanwhile, the CGT union announced its participation estimate as 800,000. President Emmanuel Macron stated that those responsible for the attacks would be tried and punished.
