In the legal process regarding the film "My Two Eyes Ahmet", which focuses on the life of Ahmet Kaya, the Court of Cassation has overruled the decision of the lower appellate court. Initiated upon the application of the artist's wife, Gülten Kaya, the case file has been sent back to the lower court for a re-evaluation of the request to halt the screening of the film.

The legal process concerning the film "My Two Eyes Ahmet", which tells the life story of Ahmet Kaya and was released in theaters in 2020, continues. The lawsuit filed through the family's lawyers with the demand to halt the film's screening had previously been brought before the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice, where the higher court had rejected the request for a preliminary injunction on the grounds that the film possessed the character of an anonymous work.

Examining the case file, the Court of Cassation overruled the decision of the Regional Court of Justice. The Court of Cassation's ruling pointed out that the film was screened without the consent of the artist's family and included fictional characters and events related to his private life. Furthermore, it was emphasized that there was no situation requiring the public interest to be prioritized in the creation of the production, that fictional scenes could harm the family's personal rights, and that the right to respect for private life must be observed. The case file is expected to be retried at the Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance.
