CU Boulder Joins Sundance Institute Initiative for Independent Filmmakers
CU Boulder has become the only higher education institution to join the Sundance Institute's AI literacy alliance, which helps independent filmmakers navigate artificial intelligence.
The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) has joined the Sundance Institute's AI Literacy Alliance to help independent filmmakers navigate the creative, ethical, legal, and environmental impacts of artificial intelligence. The free online resource center launched as part of this initiative supports independent storytellers in understanding AI and making informed decisions that center human creativity.
The AI literacy center, which falls under a three-year product-agnostic initiative announced by the Sundance Institute in early 2026 with support from Google.org, aims to provide filmmakers with the necessary knowledge and context to make informed choices rather than promoting specific tools. Alliance members co-develop content and provide feedback to ensure the resource remains useful as technologies and conversations evolve.
