Flying cars, the shared dream of the aviation and automotive sectors, are facing engineering, cost, and legal hurdles despite being brought to the agenda by Tesla's Roadster model. Although hybrid vehicles that can drive on roads and fly long distances do not yet seem possible, Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles offering short-distance travel are being evaluated as an alternative.

According to information reported by CNN International, current eVTOL technology relies on lightweight designs and can typically travel a maximum of 160 kilometers on a single charge. Unable to travel on asphalt, these vehicles are seen as an alternative to automobiles by industry representatives due to their potential to reduce a 90-minute city traffic commute to 20 minutes in the sky. Industry experts emphasize that combining lightweight aircraft with safe and heavy automobile structures results in low-performing or inadequate vehicles.
