Date announced for electricity generation at Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant

Speaking at the 16th Turkey Energy Summit held in Istanbul, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they are nearing the end at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), announcing that the first nuclear fuel will be loaded within the next few weeks and that the electricity generated by the plant will be integrated into the system starting from 2027.

Minister Bayraktar stated that intensive testing processes at the plant are ongoing and that transitioning to the physical start-up phase is targeted. It was also noted that with the 'National Energy 2040 Vision' to be announced in Dolmabahçe on November 5, strategic steps such as the development of domestic resources and supply diversity in line with Turkey's energy independence targets will be emphasized.
