Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley has announced an 11-point plan to regulate artificial intelligence technologies in Wisconsin.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley has unveiled an artificial intelligence regulation plan aimed at protecting vulnerable Wisconsin residents. Shared with Wisconsin Watch, the 11-point plan proposes placing restrictions on AI offerings for minors and holding tech companies accountable for fraud and forgery on their platforms.

Key components of the plan include limiting access to AI chatbot applications for children under 13, banning addictive design features in minor accounts, and increasing penalties for individuals who spread sexually explicit AI images of children. In addition, the plan aims to allow families to sue AI platforms if content causes harm to children, penalize tech companies that profit from fraud, and provide additional funding to centers supporting fraud victims.

Running against Republican Representative Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin, Crowley's proposed state-level regulations require action from the state legislature to take effect. His opponent, Tiffany, also emphasized the need for sensible safety measures, including holding companies accountable and requiring age verification to protect children and seniors.
