Death Claims Regarding North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un Denied
Following baseless claims spread on the internet that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had lost his life, state media shared photos of the leader attending an event with his daughter.
North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun published photos of 42-year-old leader Kim Jong Un visiting a clothing and shoe exhibition with his daughter, Kim Ju Ae. These images came immediately after unproven claims by Chinese dissident Wanjun Xie that Kim had died of a brain hemorrhage in Beijing.
South Korean intelligence officials stated that there is no information to support the death rumors in question. Analysts note that such speculations constantly arise due to the closed nature of the North Korean regime, the lack of a clear succession plan, and concerns regarding the leader's lifestyle and familial health history.
