DeepSeek Ban in Federal Agencies by the US
The US Department of Homeland Security requested the removal of Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek's models and third-party services from federal systems.
The US Department of Homeland Security has demanded that the models of Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek, along with third-party services prepared using these models, be removed from federal agencies' systems and that their repurchase be banned. The regulation, which entered into force at the end of July, was announced to the public.
Under the regulation implemented by the US Department of Homeland Security, it is prohibited to remove DeepSeek models as well as third-party services prepared with these models from federal agency systems and to repurchase them. While the Departments of Treasury, State, and Justice are affected by the decision, organizations affiliated with the Department of Defense were kept outside the scope. Officials evaluated the possibility of sensitive data leaking to China and vulnerabilities in the software as a national security risk.
