The Presidency's Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) denied claims that detained Hasan Mutlu was sent back to prison while still under the influence of anesthesia after surgery and left facing the risk of paralysis.
The Presidency's Center for Combating Disinformation made a statement regarding the claims in the press concerning the health condition of detained Hasan Mutlu. DMM reported that news suggesting Mutlu had surgery and was sent to prison while under anesthesia did not reflect the truth.
The statement noted that Mutlu did not undergo surgery, that a pain treatment was administered on October 19 due to a back condition, and that physicians did not express any opinion indicating a need for surgery. Furthermore, the claim that a 15-day hospital stay was recommended was denied, and it was stated that outpatient physical therapy was recommended.
DMM stated that Hasan Mutlu submitted petitions on October 23 in which he wrote that he did not want to go to physical therapy or use the prescribed medication. The statement emphasized that the right to health of everyone in penal institutions is guaranteed under national legislation and international human rights standards.
